MEET DR. ASHLEY LANDSMAN
Caring for your family like I'd want mine cared for.
I'm Dr. Ashley Landsman. A wife, mom of two, Texas-born, and Stanford-trained pediatrician who chose to put down roots here on the Central Coast. My journey to becoming a pediatrician started at five years old when I proudly drew a picture of myself as a pediatrician at school. Ever since then, I've always gravitated towards caring for children. What I love most about this work is the privilege of stepping into some of the most intimate moments of a family's life, whether scary, joyful, or uncertain, and being a steady, trusted presence through all of it. I'm the first pediatrician on the Central Coast offering direct primary care. I built Poppy Pediatrics because I kept running out of time with the families I cared about most. I wanted to build something different: a small, intentional practice where relationships come first, visits aren't rushed, and families always have a trusted partner to come alongside them. You'll always see me. I want to know your family, celebrate your child's growth, and be the person you turn to for honest medical advice or support. I'd be honored to be your child's doctor.

FAQ
Common questions.
What is direct primary care?+
Direct primary care is a monthly membership model for primary care. Your monthly membership provides comprehensive, relationship-first pediatric care. This allows me to maintain a small panel of patients to truly get to know each family, provide excellent primary care and sick care when needed. My goal is to keep your child as healthy as possible. You'll still want insurance for hospitalizations, specialists, imaging, and medications.
Is this the same as concierge medicine?+
No. While both models focus on a closer doctor-patient relationship, concierge practices typically charge a membership fee in addition to billing insurance. Poppy Pediatrics is a direct primary care practice, meaning we do not bill insurance. Instead, a simple monthly membership goes directly toward your child’s care, allowing for more time, lower overhead, and fewer administrative barriers.
What insurances do you accept?+
We will not bill any insurance for your care at Poppy Pediatrics. We do however help navigate different insurances to assist with labs, imaging, and specialists if needed.
What if my child is sick or needs care after hours?+
You will be able to reach out to me, your doctor, directly. I will be able to assist in assessing your child and offer guidance, support, and an appointment if needed.
What about emergent care or hospitalizations?+
We do not provide emergency or inpatient services, and your membership does not cover them. In a true emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For hospital stays, specialists, or any outside services, use your insurance or pay directly. We will help coordinate your care, but we do not pay for or insure those services.
Do I still need insurance?+
Yes. Membership care covers primary pediatric care, but families typically keep insurance for emergencies, hospitalizations, labs, imaging, prescriptions, or specialist referrals.
Do you require vaccines?+
I'm here to provide accurate, up-to-date information about vaccines, empowering you to make the decision that's best for your family. I welcome open, respectful conversations and am always happy to discuss your questions, concerns, or preferences, including alternative scheduling. I recommend the American Academy of Pediatrics immunization schedule and believe vaccines are one of the safest and most effective ways to protect children and our community. I understand that every family has unique concerns and values, and I am committed to creating a supportive environment where parents feel heard, respected, and confident in their decisions.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds?+
In many cases, families are able to use HSA or FSA funds for membership-based pediatric care, but eligibility can vary. We recommend checking with your plan administrator or tax advisor for your specific situation.
