No waiting rooms, no exposing a newborn to a lobby full of germs, no wrestling a sick toddler into a car seat. Dr. Landsman brings pediatric care to families in their homes throughout San Luis Obispo County.

How home visits work

Home visits are scheduled just like office visits, except Dr. Landsman rings your doorbell when it's your appointment time. Dr. Landsman brings the equipment needed for a thorough exam, and because the practice is a small membership practice, visits last as long as they need to. Your child can feel free to roam around their kitchen or show off their favorite toy. This makes exams easier and conversation more relaxed. Very different than the conventional office visit where you undress your child, they scream for 20 minutes, while your overstimulated brain tries to think of the 5 questions you came to the visit with. Let's take our time, and maybe chat over a cup of coffee. That sounds nice. 

What can I do at home visits? 

  • • Newborn checks, weight, and jaundice monitoring
  • • Well-child visits and developmental screenings
  • • Most sick visits — ear infections, fevers, rashes, coughs including rapid swab testing if needed for strep, flu, RSV, COVID. 
  • • School and sports physicals
  • • Feeding, sleep, and behavior consultations
  • • Follow-up care after hospital or specialist visits

Some needs, like imaging, lab draws, or procedures, are arranged through local facilities. Dr. Landsman can give you an order for you to take to these facilities and help coordinate the care you need. 

When can you use virtual care? 

Not every question needs a visit. Dr. Landsman can easily review a rash photo or medication follow up via text message. A quick phone or video call can be helpful your child is sick or you are unsure what the next steps should be. Dr. Landsman can also provide those beloved school sick notes without needing you to come into an office if you feel comfortable caring for your child at home. If something needs an in person exam, Dr. Landsman can then arrange a home visit.
